2005 Bangkok International Film Festival : I wasn't really given much direction on what to shoot for this festival, other than the company needed photos of celebrities, glamour, and crowd shots. So, I shot for coverage, basically anything that caught my eye. In total, I shot over 4,700 photos at the festival, some of which are shown here. Most of these shots ended up being used in PR releases, advertising, and promotional brochures. Some were even used as background textures. Though I had been shooting with a digital camera for four months at this point, I was still in the middle of a heavy learning curve after having not shot any pictures for nearly eight years. A lot of my shots were grossly underexposed and color correcting these was a nightmare. Still, it was a great learning experience and a lot of fun, but a whole lot of work as well.

Equipment used included: Canon 300D, Canon 20D, Canon 430EX with Lumiquest bouncer. Lenses included: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, 75-300 USM IS, 24mm f/2.8, 35mm f/2, 50mm f/1.8, and 85mm f/1.8.

2005 LA Auto Show : My friend Dale and I shot these. I used the Canon Digital Rebel with the 24mm f2.8 and 18-55mm lenses. He used my Canon 20D with the 24-85mm f3.5-4.5, a lens I no longer own. We opted not to take pictures at the LA auto show earlier this year because of the hassle of carrying all that equipment. Maybe next time. A lot of Dale's shots suffered from underexposure, which was my fault thanks to a misunderstanding of how to set up the camera before I handed it off to him.

2006 Bangkok International Film Festival : For the 2006 BKKIFF, I made one equipment change from the previous festival: I added the Canon 10-22mm EF-S lens in order to take ultra-wide crowd and landscape shots. I was originally just supposed to get big, crowd shots, but this changed as the festival wore on and I was instructed to get a combination of individual and group shots. One problem I had was shooting in low-light with a whole bunch of spotlights always in my face. I compensated for last year's underexposed photos by overexposing slightly and though this worked for a lot of photos, for some it proved problematic as I ended up with unintentionally blown whites at times. I also made it a point to shoot less - a LOT less as I took about 1,500 photos total, one-third as many as I took in 2005. However, I think if I were to shoot this again, I would take twice as many photos as I did.

2006 San Diego Comic-Con : A gallery of some of the people I met at this year's Comic-Con. I didn't get to go very far since I was at my own table for much of the Con.

2007 LA Auto Show : Still need to crop and rotate some of these shots, but at least I've gone through and lightened the darker ones up. Shot with a Canon Digital Rebel, along with the 18-55mm and 10-22mm lenses.

January 2007 CSCC Solo2 Championship Event : Shot Groups 4 and 5 - the autofocus on my Digital Rebel died about midway through group 5, so I resorted to manually focusing for a while.
